Ensuring Quality Education for All Students

Paradise Unified School District (PUSD) offers quality education from elementary to high school in Paradise and Magalia. Our goal is to graduate proactive, knowledgeable citizens prepared for the modern world. We take this mission seriously, continuously evaluating student feedback and test scores to enhance classroom strategies for effective learning.

Supporting Students and Rebuilding Our Schools

In the aftermath of the 2018 Camp Fire's devastation, PUSD remains steadfast in its efforts to rebuild our schools and support our students. While we have constructed several modernized facilities, there is still more work to be done as our community continues to recover and grow. An integral part of these ongoing efforts involves the reconstruction of Paradise Elementary, ensuring a bright future for our young learners.

Looking Forward to the Future

The State does not provide funding for facilities, meaning local schools cannot maintain quality educational programs and schools without a local funding source. To address this, the Board of Trustees is considering placing a local bond measure on the November 2024 ballot. If approved, the measure would generate up to $40 million in locally controlled funding to:

Support construction of rebuilding Paradise Elementary
Repair or replace deteriorating plumbing,
leaky roofs, and heating/cooling systems

Construct and modernize classrooms/labs and increase student access to technology
Make health, safety,
and handicapped accessibility improvements

Local Control and Fiscal Accountability

Any potential school bond measures would be transparent and include strict fiscal accountability provisions. All funds would be used for our local schools only and could not be taken away by the State or used for other purposes. A project list, independent citizens’ oversight, and annual audits would ensure all funds are spent as voters intended.
